Coronavirus pandemic will not impact seafood exports: Mpeda

India’s seafood exports to China are not very likely to encounter any adverse impact owing to the coronavirus pandemic, which has largely strike the country’s Wuhan province, the Marine Merchandise Export Progress Authority stated below.

“Seafood exports to China have elevated significantly in the latest fiscal year as compared to the identical period a year earlier. Throughout April-December 2019, full seafood exports to China stood at two,42,218 tonnes valued at $1,032 million as towards 1,65,950 tonnes valued at $589 million in the identical period final year,” stated KS Srinivas, Chairman, Mpeda.

“The raise is 46 for every cent in terms of quantity and seventy five for every cent in terms of benefit,” he noted.

Close to 500 exporters ship seafood from India to China and the exporting community in normal has not elevated any situation about exports to that nation on account of the coronavirus, he stated.
